We Opened a Quiet Space for Financial Clarity

Phra Capital was founded with a single concern: that adults in Thailand at the midpoint of their lives often carry financial questions they have never had a proper chance to sit with. We try to offer that chance.

Our Story

How Phra Capital Came to Be

Phra Capital opened its doors in 2019 in a quiet corner of Phra Nakhon, not far from the old city island. The founding idea was a simple observation: adults approaching their forties and fifties in Thailand frequently had questions about their personal finances that they could not easily bring to a bank, a financial advisor, or a family member. The questions were not exotic — they were things like "do I actually understand what my bank statement tells me?" or "how do I talk to my aging parents about money without causing discomfort?"

The founders — a pair of educators with backgrounds in economics and adult learning — decided to try something different from the financial seminars and product-led briefings that were common in Bangkok at the time. They rented a room, set out some proper chairs, and invited a small group of adults to come and look at financial topics together without anyone trying to sell them anything. The sessions filled quickly.

By 2021 the workshop format had settled into the three programmes that Phra Capital still runs today. The work is facilitated rather than lectured. Participants bring their own materials and questions. The facilitator guides the group through a process of comprehension, not instruction. Nobody leaves with a product recommendation. They leave with a clearer sense of their own situation and a few tools they can use independently.

We are a small organisation and we intend to stay that way. Large audiences and rapid scale would change the thing that makes the work useful, which is the quality of attention each participant receives.

Our Values

  • Comprehension over activity

We would rather a participant understand one thing well than leave with a long list they half remember.

  • No product recommendations

We never suggest financial products. Our work is educational and advisory in nature only.

  • Privacy at every stage

Personal financial details shared in sessions remain within the room and are never discussed outside it.

  • Respect for the learner

Adults at 40+ have accumulated experience. Our programmes treat that experience as an asset, not an obstacle.

Our Standards

How We Work

Qualified Facilitation

All Phra Capital facilitators hold postgraduate qualifications in economics, finance, or adult education and have a minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience.

Strict Confidentiality

Participant financial information stays within the session. Facilitators sign confidentiality agreements and do not discuss participant details outside the programme setting.

Independence from Products

Phra Capital does not accept commission from financial institutions. No programme contains product recommendations. Our income comes solely from workshop fees.

Programme Review Process

Each programme is reviewed annually by the facilitating team and by a small group of past participants. Materials are updated to reflect any changes in Thai financial regulation or practice.

Data Protection

Participant registration data is stored securely and not shared with third parties. We follow Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in our handling of all personal information.

Small Group Commitment

We cap each session at twelve participants and do not make exceptions. This is a quality standard, not a marketing claim. It allows the facilitator to attend carefully to each person in the room.

Financial Literacy Education in Bangkok for Adults 40 and Over

There is a particular kind of financial uncertainty that arrives in midlife. The arithmetic of a household becomes more complex. Elderly parents may need support. Children's education costs appear on the horizon. One's own later years begin to feel more real and more worth planning for. And yet, formal financial education in Thailand has historically been designed for younger people entering the workforce or for high-net-worth individuals looking to grow capital.

Phra Capital occupies a different space. Our workshops are designed for the adult who is already in the middle of their financial life and who would benefit from a clearer picture of what they actually have, what they actually spend, and how Thai markets and financial instruments have behaved over time. We do not teach people to become investors. We help them become more informed about the financial landscape they already live in.

Bangkok is home to a substantial population of adults in their forties, fifties, and early sixties who manage complex household economies with limited formal education in personal finance. Phra Capital's programmes — Reading the Bank Statement, A Considered Approach to Markets, and The Family Conversation Programme — address three of the most common areas where clarity and calm understanding tend to make a meaningful difference.

Our location in Phra Nakhon reflects a deliberate choice. The old city district has a quality of unhurriedness that suits the kind of careful work we do. Sessions are held in a properly fitted workshop room, not in a hotel conference hall or a co-working space. The environment contributes to the quality of attention participants bring to the material.
