I attended the bank statement workshop after noticing I had no clear picture of where my money went each month. Working through my own statements in the session, with the facilitator asking careful questions, I found things I had not noticed in years of looking at the same documents. The one-page summary I built during the session is now something I review at the start of each month.

The markets programme was not what I expected — in a good sense. I came expecting to learn what to do with my savings. What I left with was a much quieter mind about financial news. When the facilitator walked through two or three major market movements in Thai history, I started to understand why the commentary I read each morning was creating more anxiety than information. I still read the news, but with a different distance from it.

My husband and I attended the Family Conversation Programme together. We are at the point in life where we are helping my in-laws with some costs while also thinking about our children's university expenses. The programme did not give us a plan — it gave us a language for talking about these things with each other without the conversation becoming uncomfortable. The printed guide has been genuinely useful at home.

I was a little uncertain before attending whether this was the right kind of programme for me — I am 58 and have no background in finance. The facilitator was patient and the group was small enough that I did not feel lost. I would say the sessions moved well, though for me personally I would have liked a little more time on one of the topics. The follow-up note from the facilitator was a nice touch I did not expect.

What I appreciated most about the bank statement workshop was that the facilitator never made anyone feel careless about their finances. The tone was calm and curious, not corrective. I came away understanding my own cashflow better than I had in fifteen years, and I did it by looking at my own numbers rather than at a textbook example. That makes a real difference.

I attended all three programmes over about eight months. Each one builds on a different area and they work well independently, but for me there was a natural progression from understanding my own cashflow, to understanding the broader market environment, to thinking about how these things connect to my family's situation. I would not hesitate to recommend any of them.

Three Participant Journeys
A Retired Civil Servant, 61, Bangkok
Reading the Bank Statement · Two sessions, February 2025
The Starting Point
After retiring, this participant received his pension into the same account he had used for decades. He found himself uncertain whether his monthly outgoings left him with a surplus or a shortfall, and he had never mapped the figures clearly.
During the Programme
Working with three months of his own statements in the group session, he identified two recurring direct debits he had forgotten about, a pattern of irregular spending that clustered around specific weekends, and a clearer picture of his average monthly cashflow.
Afterwards
He described the one-page cashflow summary he built during the session as "the first time I have had a clear picture of my own finances in twenty years." He used it to make one straightforward change to his monthly routine that reduced his unplanned spending.
"The facilitator never judged anything I had done. The whole thing was about understanding, not correcting. That made a real difference to how I engaged with the material."
A Marketing Manager, 47, Bangkok
A Considered Approach to Markets · Three evenings, March 2025
The Starting Point
She read financial news daily and found it created more uncertainty than clarity. Every few months, something in the news would prompt her to consider moving money around — but she had no framework for deciding whether these instincts were sound or reactive.
During the Programme
The three-evening format allowed the facilitator to walk through several significant periods in Thai and regional market history, showing how commentary at each moment had differed from the eventual outcome. She began to see a pattern in how the news she read was framed.
Afterwards
She described feeling "a quieter relationship with financial news" in the months following the programme. She continued reading the same sources but with a different perspective on what the commentary was and was not telling her. She made no reactive changes to her finances in the subsequent quarter.
"I expected to learn what to think about markets. What I actually learned was how to think about the people writing about markets. That was more useful."
A Couple, Both 53, Bangkok
The Family Conversation Programme · Weekend, April 2025
The Starting Point
They were managing contributions to the wife's elderly parents while also thinking about their son's postgraduate plans. Conversations about money at home had become tense — both felt differently about priorities but found it difficult to discuss without the conversation becoming a disagreement.
During the Programme
The facilitator worked with the group using discussion prompts that separated different types of family financial concerns. Rather than trying to solve any particular problem in the room, the sessions focused on building a vocabulary and a set of questions that couples could use at home on their own terms.
Afterwards
They described having two conversations at home in the month after the programme that they "would not have been able to have before." The printed conversation guide served as a prompt for both. They did not resolve every question, but found they could stay in the conversation longer before it became difficult.
"We came because we needed a language for these conversations, not because we needed someone to tell us what to do. The programme gave us exactly that."
